Upclose with MAWUNYA who takes Ghana music to next level

Born Love Kissi-Nyarko also known as MAWUNYA hails from the Volta Region (Anfoega –Dzana and Ho Ziavi).  She is the second among three siblings.  She is married with two kids and has been in the industry for over two decades.


As it is common to every super star in the music fraternity ,Mawunya developed the love and passion for singing from a very young age. She was introduced to Funworld and Kidafest by her late mother where she performed on both stages for sometime.  She later joined a group called Showers of Love.  This group recorded their first album with her being the lead vocalist and launched it in the year 2000.  It was in the same year she met Joseph Appiah (Quick Action) who also introduced her to studio backups at Mastermix Studios and she has been backing from that time till now.

Mawunya does all genre of music.  Mawunya has worked with a lot of musicians like: Jael Wiafe, Elder Collins Amponsah, Nana  Yaw Asare, Obiba Sly Collins, Yaw Sarpong, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Fatau Keita, Naterial (MTN Hitmaker Season 1), the late Michael Dwamena and many others.
Mawunya has also worked with engineers like: Quick Action (S24 Rec. Studios), Sami Helwani (Mastermix Studios), Shardrach Yawson (Shar), Andrew Morgan (JMorg Studios), Samuel Owusu, Okyeame Quophi and many others.
Mawunya has been featured in jingles with Quick Action such as: Rice Master (CAN 2008), Ecobank, UT Bank, Gluconade, Ahotor FM and many others.
