This year Aseseeso Odwira festival will be another remarkable moment for the Chief,Elders and the people of Aseseeso ,a historical town in the Akuapem North District in Eastern part of Ghana to thank God for his divine protection and merciful care throughout the year . This year's event will take off between 3th and 15th October 2017.

The Omanhene of Aseseeso Nana Kusi Oboadum Amoyaw V  and Nana Ama Addobea II the Queen Mother of Aseseeso pray to have a very successful events this year which will create cultural harmony, good moral practices that will empower ,educate the youth and create beneficial effects of social values of life mix up with entertainment among the people of Aseseaso.
The chief according to  Komfa Adu Alexander warmly welcomes everyone who wants to join this year's celebration of Odwira on his land.

As this Odwira festival is very important part of the life of the people of Aseseeso, both home and abroad during this time natives of Aseseeso from all walks of life happily return home and make preparations for this festive moment. 

Real Men Association in collaboration with the Council of Aseseeso Township will  array this year's events with series of Educative ,Informative,Historical and entertaining programs that with will have  a cool pleasurable and life transformation effects on the youth and the people of Aseseeso as a whole.

Real Men Association which is made of young men in the community has been noted for their kind gestures towards Aseseaso township. For the past two years they are known to be an ultimate donors and organizers for the Aseseaso Odwira. Their sole objective is to develop Aseseaso community through Culture,Entertainment and unity.


On Friday 13th October 2017 there will be a Massive Street Carnival starting from 9pm in the evening with alot of side attrations ,musicals ,dancing and merry making till the next day. A lot of well know musicians and celebrities will also take part of this carnival.

The main grand Durbar will be held exactly 12pm -4pm on Saturday 14th October in the afternoon where Real Men Association makes a presentation of the rehabilitated Bus Stop subsequently to the Health Walk from the Obuadum Square to Adukurom and returns
.

In the evening of the grand Durbar on the same date which is 14th October 2017,there will be a Dinner dance and a Live Band performance with food and drinks till the next day.

15th October which is the following Sunday will be Non-Denominational Thanksgiving service at the Obuadum Square. The Real Men End of Year Games will follow at the Aseseeso JHS park where activities like Vollyeball,Sack race,Hand ball and the ultimate Soccer will be enjoyed between the hours of 2pm to 6pm.

Komfa Adu Alexander ,Media Relation and youth co-ordinator for the whole events also added that , The Omanhene of Aseseaso Nana Kusi Oboadum Amoyaw V  as part of the Odwira festival  will also take the opportunity and launch his 25th anniversary which will be celebrated next year.

BRIEF ABOUT ODWIRA FESTIVAL
Celebrated in Aburi, Akropong-Akwapim,Larteh, Amanorkrom, and Ahwerase,AseseEso in the period of September/October.

It significance if the annual thanksgiving to God for his merciful care and protection; customary purification of the land and people by the chiefs and priests for the spiritual and social renewal to face the trials and triumphs of another year; Reaffirmation of loyalties within the traditional administrative set-up and patching up of misunderstandings among families; mourning of those who passed away in the year and feeding with the brave ancestors of Akwapem who are deemed to be present on such occasions; Promotion and presentation of cultural values.

The festival is mainly the dramatization of Akwapem sacred traditions, myths and olden day legends, haeded down by the ancestors of the "Oman". It involves the re-staging of some of the antiquated historical episodes like traditional military tactics. Other activities include path clearing to Amamprobi for 'Safe' travel home; lifting of forty days ban on noise making, state mourning for departed souls and feeding the ancestors at Nsorem. There is also a splendid cultural parade of chiefs and a Grand Durbar. A great deal of emphasis is laid on music, dancing and feasting.

The Akuapem Odwira festival was instituted by the 19th Omanhene of Akropong, Nana Addo Dankwa 1(1811-1835) and first celebrated in October 1826. This followed the capture of the artefacts (pertaining to the celebration of Odwira) by Akwapem forces from the hitherto invincible Ashanti army during the historic battle of Katamansu near Dodowa in 1826.
